Post phonepad bugs that need to be fixed

I would like to know if others are having the same issues I am with the uPlay phonepad Gen 3 or if I just bought a lemon. I have not yet installed a SIM card or set up a phone or data plan because I am still trying to get the device to work as a tablet connected to my home wifi.

For example, it functions inconsistently: Sometimes it boots up (at it's own pace) and sometimes it doesn't boot up and all and I have to to try again. Sometimes I can download from Google Play or Amazon and sometimes it times out before anything can happen. I did download Firefox to test it is a browser problem, but the browser doesn't matter. I've never been able to get to a Youtube video. I just tried to download an MP3 audio book from my library. It's gets me into the digital library site, but the browser gets hung up when I try to get into my account. After 20 minutes, I assume it's not going to work.

Is there an operating system upgrade that would help? Would a system restore help? (If I do that would I lose the apps I saved to the external SD card?)

I know that tablets are reported in be slower than laptops, but this is ridiculous. Theoretically (and according to the PR on your website), this is just the device I have wanted. But it doesn't work the way you say it's going to work.

If anyone has any suggestions how to make the uPlay phonetab Gen 3 simply FUNCTION as a device that is supposed to get me onto the internet to search, download apps etc without timing or getting hung up indefinitely, PLEASE share them. I am not a techie, but I am an experienced user of communications technology. Give me some instruction, and I can follow them. I really would like to be able to enjoy using his device without getting totally frustrated. :x :x

I'm going to add that apparently there are upgrades/updates/fixes happening for Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich for lots of other devices. Why not for the uPlay phonetab Gen 3? Do a search for "how to update the Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich.

I just want to make sure that you know what the issue is. When I use the tablet as a stand-alone device, connected to an excellent wifi signal, the processor slows down to a crawl, often making attempts to connect to websites time-out or hang on indefinitely. That is an Android processor problem that other Android devices often have (but their manufacturers post upgrades and updates for their customers). This support forum has such upgrades available for other devices you sell but not for the phonepad. So, PLEASE GET WORKING ON THE PHONEPAD UPDATE RIGHT AWAY. That has been the problem from the very beginning with this phonepad gen 3, and I have a feeling you all knew it but kept obfuscating my questions and offering irrelevant answers. I don't want a refund. I want the damned thing to work the way it is supposed to as advertised on your website. I will keep checking here to see how you are doing.

Well, here's where the problem of "not knowing what I don't know" about tablets comes into play. I made a decision to do a "return to factory settings," and now the internet connection works just fine -- surfing, downloading etc. The processor works just fine. Someone must have altered some setting (before I purchased it) that I wasn't able to identify, which got in the way of the wifi connection. I can' help but wonder if someone on the seller's end played with it before it got mailed out to me. This little uPlay phonetab, so far, now that it's back to factory settings, is a little gem. Sorry for all of the consternation on my part.
